Resources for LGBTQ+ people

I've decided to add a few resources here, for LGBTQ+ people, principally in response to ongoing attacks by politicians on the transgender community in the UK.

Remember, if you decide to write to an MP, the EHRC or anyone else, it's always best to use your own words; I don't mind if you copy the ideas that you find in the letters I provide here, but please try to express them in your own words. When people receive lots of identical letters, they will often assign less weight to them than to individual ones.

Letter to my MP about Labour policy on trans issues

My MP is Diane Abbott, and this letter was written to her following the Supreme Court ruling on transgender issues, but before the EHRC issued their very flawed guidelines. It sets out my view that the Labour party is going down the wrong path, and will leave a stain on the community as bad as Section 28. Download

Letter to the EHRC about their draft guidance

The draft guidance from the EHRC is a vast extension of the Supreme Court judge, and frankly riddled with transphobia. It also seeks to tell lesbian or gay clubs and organisations that they should not be trans-inclusive, which in my view is a direct attack on our freedom of association, and way beyond their remit. Solidarity badges

Want to show solidarity with trans people? I have a T shirt based on this design on my online store, but unless I order hundreds in advance, it's not really economical to make badges. So I'm offering two versions of the design as a PDF for you to use with your own preferred maker of badges (but do check they're supportive of trans people!). I use Printful.com for a lot of my merch.
