Freelance journalist & editor
In this part of the site, you can find a little more about me and my skills and work experience.
A quick overview
I'm a freelance writer, primarily for the computer press, based in Hackney, East London. I write on a wide range of topics, with a bias towards issues such as the internet, satellite navigation and e-commerce. I'm able to cover information at both a detailed technical level, such as configuring and building an email server, or at a more basic “How to send your first email” tutorial level.
As well as writing for magazines, I have had two books published, and am an experienced editor, for both online and print content; having edited Computer Buyer before going freelance in 1995, I've subsequently edited web sites and planned and edited cover mounted booklets and sections of other magazines. My work has also been published in both national and local press in the UK.
I'm experienced with broadcasting, with over 100 TV appearances on Chips With Everything, as an expert panelist, and many appearances on the radio, including shows such as LBC's The Lab.
In addition to writing and broadcasting, I do some IT consultancy for small organisations, including helping with the development of their web sites and email systems.

You can obtain my business contact details quickly by sending a text message containing the words NIGEL INFO to 60300, from a UK mobile phone.
Outside work, I have a wide range of interests, and am the owner of two classic Citroëns, a DS23EFI Pallas, and a CX25 GTi Turbo.
As well as running web sites and other online projects, I've been active with various community groups, and during 2005 volunteered to mentor a refugee as part of Time Bank's Time Together scheme.
